A bit about Kickass Women:
I started Kickass Women in 2013 as an invite-only event in my home to create a safe and friendly space for women I knew to connect. It’s since grown into a public event but the values remain.
I’ve done events with Natwest and now run Kickass Women in partnership with Harrow Council and the London Business Partnership. Tickets are limited to just 20 to keep it focused and intimate.
The events are for any woman (or man) who works – this could be a mum, someone volunteering, someone looking for work, someone who’s retired, entrepreneurs or start-ups. I want everyone to be welcome.
It’s not a space for ‘selling’. It’s about connecting. We don’t bring great piles of business cards and thrust them in people’s face without asking. We listen more than we speak. We help each other and equip each other.
There’s lots of room to be yourself, to be vulnerable and real and to ask for help.
What will a Kickass Women Mingle be like?
The Mingles are organised when a group of ladies want me to organise one! In the last six months I’ve organised a ‘Maker’s Market’ where women who make sold their wares for Christmas shoppers, we had a session focused on ‘pausing’ at the start of 2019 and reaching our goals and also a session on ‘Simplifying’ which covered de-cluttering, removing mental blockages and freeing up time in our diaries.
The next event I’m planning is a ‘Harrow Maker’s Market’, which I hope will take place in Wealdstone Library and will offer women makers to have a bigger space and a bigger footfall. I would love this to take place from the 31st of May to 1st June, with a networking event included on the Friday.
I’m also thinking about an event centred around health. I already have a speaker interested to speak about wellness and I’d love someone to speak on food, maybe mindfulness and fitness? So if you’re interested in speaking, please leave me a comment below.
